NORTHERN SEAS
SCHEHERAZADE
POETA
SHADOWS
The myths of the Norse come to life in Northern Seas, Al Conti’s fourth album. As with his previous award-winning album, Scheherazade, Conti has taken well-known tales, this time from the mystical lands of the north that originated during Scandinavia’s Viking Age, and woven music around themes and images. By combining ancient and exotic instruments with modern ones, Conti has created a mythical landscape carrying the listener to another time and place, one cloaked in veils of mist, when the gods ruled over harsh Nordic lands.
One kingdom, one ruler, the strength of one woman to conquer them all! Al Conti's third release is his most haunting and seductive yet. Alluring sounds of guitar, piano, dulcimer, exotic hurdy gurdy, sitar, tribal drums and other percussion fill this musical landscape to tell the triumphant story of Scheherazade like it has never been told before.
This is Al's first album to bridge new age and world music and is a compelling retelling of the 1001 nights through the eyes of Scheherazade, the teller of these tales.
The album that started it all! Take a journey into shadows and the darkest corners of the heart, where no one can go but yourself. With touching piano compositions ‘Asleep in Your Arms,’ ‘Roland’s Heart,’ ‘The Touch’ and the title track ‘Shadows,’ the more upbeat ambient /ethnic ‘Oblivion’ and haunting ‘Reflection,’ to the relaxing ‘Longing for You’ and ‘Whispers,’ let your heart take the emotional journey into your own shadows and back...
Embark on a journey through landscapes of emotions, woven together by the images of music brought forth in peaceful, healing melodies all magically contained within the quill of poeta. From the first note to the last, Al Conti's album features ethnic instruments such as the hurdy gurdy, udu, sitar and tablas as well as classical violins and cellos, haunting ambient vocals and beautiful guitar solos.
